Quiet Lanes
You may have seen some signs up in the area notifying you that some roads are now designated as “Quiet Lanes”. This is an east Suffolk born pilot project in Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Nature Beauty (AONB) with the aim to preserve the rural nature of Suffolk’s lanes for all to enjoy. Quiet Lanes are minor rural roads on which all users, large and small, on wheels or legs, are expected to respect each other. Quiet Lanes do not impose speed limits or reduce access by vehicles instead it encourages vehicles to use more suitable routes.
If using these lanes, please expect vulnerable lane users around the next bend and respect their right to a fair share of road space.
